A decent email list is the holy grail for any online enterprise, and using landing pages will vastly increase the speed it grows. It doesn’t matter if you’re selling a physical product (buy a watch!), your time, a service, or just ad space on your blog, a strong email list will provide more value than anything else. Long before I launched the Hamtun Watches H1 in 2016, I’d been concentrating on growing my list in preparation.
What are landing pages?
Landing pages are simple websites with just one goal, usually capturing email addresses. By focusing on just one thing, you avoid confusing the user or giving them things to think about. If all that the user can do on a page is read a bit of information, look at a few pictures, and sign-up to an email list, you’ll find they convert at a far higher rate than on pages with multiple navigation or content options. It doesn’t matter what your online business is doing, landing pages can be built on day one using just product renders/wireframes and basic feature lists, and then linked to from all your social profiles. The sooner you start building your list, the better chance of success you have.
If you’re a web developer you can build your landing pages yourself if you want, but it’s a waste of time and there are plenty of services you can take advantage of, starting from free, that understand the tricks behind building a successful landing page design. I’ve tried many of them over the years and have listed some of them below, but the one I’ve stuck with over the years is LeadPages as they allow me to build a great landing page quickly and easily which is the goal.
Which landing page software is best?
There are several great landing page tools out there these days. Of the ones I’ve tried (and that’s a lot!) I’ve found the following to be the best.
Best overall service: Leadpages
The service I use. Sensibly priced, easy to use, and with lots of integrations. Drag-and-drop design and loads of templates makes it easy to set up a great landing page for anything.
- Allows you to quickly make a great landing page
- Integrates with pretty much everything
- Lots of landing page examples to work from/customise

Best free landing page service: Carrd
Starting from free, Carrd is an ideal option for those starting out and on a low budget. Not as flexible or powerful as LeadPages, but a good starting point. If you’re just setting out you shouldn’t be spending your money on an expensive landing page, so give carrd a try.
- Starts from free!
- Simple, easy to use landing page examples to base your page off
- Some integrations with third party services
